Changelog

All released builds of darthvader. Versions are <version>-<git hash>; the hash is the source commit the binaries were built from and is what the app shows in its title bar, About dialog and in the version string it reports to DMR masters.

Linux .deb 0.1.0-10 (build a7508824) — 2026-10-19

New Linux package for amd64 and arm64 (arm64 = Raspberry Pi 4 / 5 on Debian 13), published on the v0.1.0-8fe1f2e3 release alongside the Windows build. Since Linux 0.1.0-9:

  • AllStar: all three ways to connect — link via a node, register your own node over IAX2, or HTTPS node registration — now show "Connected: " and a quick Disconnect button on each server row; HTTP registration auto-redials if the link drops.
  • AllStar: per-node IP override in Settings, so two nodes behind the same public IP / NAT can link locally without the IP-mismatch rejection.
  • Anonymous check-in + update check: on start darthvader reports ONLY your callsign (plus version and platform) so the project can see how many run it and roughly where — no IP, no email — and tells you when a newer build is out, with a Download link. Opt-out in Settings → General.

0.1.0-8fe1f2e3 (Windows .msi/.zip) — 2026-10-18

Windows rebuilt from the same source as the Linux 0.1.0-9 .deb (8fe1f2e), so both platforms are in sync again. New on Windows since 0.1.0-abae21aa: everything in 0.1.0-9 below, plus the AllStar node-mode work (own-node IAX registration, live connect/disconnect of any node from the main page, ASL DNS lookup) and name-sorted server lists.

0.1.0-9 (Linux .deb, source 8fe1f2e) — 2026-10-18

Linux .deb update.

  • DMR: finish login when connection options are set (e.g. AmCom's pass=…) instead of looping RPTO forever — peers that authenticate via the options string now reach Running and connect.
  • DMR: a blank ESSID field means the bare DMR-ID; an explicit value (including 00) keeps the id*100+essid hotspot form BM/TGIF expect.
  • DMR: retry a hard-failed peer on settings-save, fix a socket warning on disconnect, and log TX END with duration to pair every TX START.
  • AllStar: RX shows the actual linked node + callsign/location instead of a stale guess.
  • UI: startup jingle (the Imperial March) plays out the speakers on launch.

0.1.0-abae21aa (Windows .msi/.zip + Linux .deb 0.1.0-8) — 2026-10-17

Windows and Linux built from the same source (abae21a). The Windows build is the first since 0.1.0-d28b2ab5; the Linux .deb is 0.1.0-8. Includes everything in the Linux 0.1.0-4 … 0.1.0-7 packages below, plus:

  • D-STAR: RX + TX on DExtra, DCS and DPlus (REF); XLX reflectors in the picker; per-reflector identity and separate TX/RX modules.
  • P25: new mode — full-rate IMBE decoded/encoded in software, no chip needed.
  • Audio: pull-mode playback, immune to main-thread stalls; switching audio device mid-traffic can no longer hang.
  • Asynchronous logging with uniform RX/TX START/END lines for every mode; per-mode connection dots in the status bar.

0.1.0-7 (Linux .deb, source 1246648) — 2026-10-16

  • AllStar: major overhaul. Local-node window is now a saved list of the nodes you linked, each with Disconnect / Reconnect / Delete; the Remote-nodes window lists the full connected mesh (browse only). Local/reserved nodes (e.g. 1970) show as info rows. Node numbers resolve to callsign + location (AllStarLink stats) in both windows. RX now appears in Last heard, driven by the IAX KEY/UNKEY control frames (same as iaxRpt). Command history persists across restarts with edit/remove. Linked nodes are reliably disconnected on exit (Ctrl-C and window-close alike), retried until the node acknowledges.
  • Fix: Ctrl-C no longer hangs the app and no longer spams the shutdown log.
  • Audio: opening a window (Settings, dialogs) no longer drops the sound — the sink keeps ~250 ms buffered so playback coasts through brief UI work; Settings builds its tabs lazily (faster open, less CPU/memory).
  • Audio: a second network/mode can no longer be blocked by a stuck "currently playing" state; added diagnostics for the DMR cross-network case.

0.1.0-6 (Linux .deb, source 12e77aee) — 2026-10-15

  • Settings: M17, NXDN, YSF and AllStar now use the uniform DMR layout (header + status-dot table + empty state + Add) — nothing lost, account boxes and cards kept.
  • SvxLink: node info fully editable per reflector (Location, Position lat/long/locator, Node class, Sysop, Hidden) + pre-filled inline JSON.
  • EchoLink: consistent header.

0.1.0-a3abeead (Linux .deb 0.1.0-4) — 2026-10-15

Debian/amd64 package refresh, added to the v0.1.0-d28b2ab5 release (the Windows build on that release is unchanged):

  • DAPNET (POCSAG): shown as “DAPNET”, split into independent Receive/Send with in-app message compose, bundled core list fixed, send-only by default.
  • SvxLink: announces node info as Darthvader (sw/version/git); node info (Location, Node class, Sysop, Hidden) is editable per reflector in Settings.
  • UI: clearer mode-page layouts and fixes.

0.1.0-83e21492 — 2026-09-16

  • The MD380 software vocoder now reads md380fw.img / md380ram.img from share/darthvader/vocoder_fw instead of the firmware being built into the binary — it is Tytera's firmware and not ours to redistribute. DV3000 sticks and remote AMBEservers are unaffected.
  • Ships as .msi and plain .zip. The NSIS .exe was dropped: unsigned self-extractors are flagged by generic heuristics (the whole Bitdefender engine family, Microsoft's ML) while the same payload as .msi is not.

0.1.0-59f93ce0 — 2026-09-16

App icon and version metadata (publisher SA7AUX) in both darthvader.exe and the installers. The previous build had no version resource, icon or signature, which tripped generic antivirus heuristics. Still unsigned, so SmartScreen warns on first run.

0.1.0-244ef5d9 — 2026-09-16

First packaged build.

  • Modes: M17, DMR (BrandMeister / TGIF / any Pi-Star style master), YSF, NXDN, D-STAR, P25, EchoLink, AllStar (IAX), SvxLink, APRS and POCSAG/DAPNET.
  • Hardware: DV3000 / ThumbDV / DVstick AMBE+2 sticks (auto-probed), remote AMBEserver over UDP, and the MD380 software vocoder.
  • Audio chain per direction: preamp → 7-band EQ → LADSPA → AGC → limiter, per mode / peer / server.
  • Windows: .exe and .msi installers, 15 bundled LADSPA plugins (compressors, gate, limiter, filters, de-esser, EQ, saturation) so chains configured on Linux work unchanged.
